Fanny Crosby

Some day the silver cord will break,
And I no more as now shall sing;
But oh, the joy when I shall wake
Within the palace of the King!

And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story—Saved by grace;
And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story—Saved by grace.

Some day my earthly house will fall.
I cannot tell how soon ’twill be;
But this I know—my All in All
Has now a place in Heav’n for me.

And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story—Saved by grace;
And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story—Saved by grace.

Some day, when fades the golden sun
Beneath the rosy tinted west,
My blessèd Lord will say, “Well done!”
And I shall enter into rest.

And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story—Saved by grace;
And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story—Saved by grace.

Some day: till then I’ll watch and wait,
My lamp all trimmed and burning bright,
That when my Savior opens the gate,
My soul to Him may take its flight.

And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story—Saved by grace;
And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story—Saved by grace.
                                           ~Frances Jane Crosby

I have been researching Fanny Crosby for a research paper for school and I did not realize how much God has used her life and her hymns.

When she was 6 weeks old, She went blind as a result of the wrong treatment from her doctor. Her father died before she turned a year old and her mother had to work so Fannys grandmother came to stay with her. Her grandmother taught her about God and tried to help little Fanny see the world through imagination. She memorized many of the Psalms and Proverbs, the book of Ruth, And much of the New Testament.

Fanny went to the New York Institute for the Blind at age 15 and later became a teacher there. In her lifetime, she wrote over 8000 hymns!!!!! Wow! God used Fanny Crosby to touch hearts all over the world and her hymns were translated into many languages including Chinese and Japanese.

This hymn i have chosen was meant to stay private. Fanny called it her souls poem and did not wish it to be publicized but she spoke at a camp meeting held by D. L. Moody and a newspaper reporter recorded it and published the words.

Reading about Fanny Crosby has touched me as i hope it will touch you.
