What is your definition of brotherly love?
Mark 3:31-35
There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him{Jesus}, calling him. And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee. And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren? And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.
This verse states that all Christians are brothers and sisters right? Then why do some people say that Christian brothers and sisters must be separated? Why must we brothers and sisters practically ignore those of the opposite gender especially if they are within a certain age of us? Why cant we live like a family when we are together?
I’ve been told that I am a physical person. And I know I am. =) I just sometimes have a hard time expressing some things with words. It is easy to give someone a hug or squeeze their shoulder letting them know you care and are thankful for them!
1 Peter 3:8
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
Romans 12:10
Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
1 Thessalonians 4:9
But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
Hebrews 13:1 Let brotherly love continue.
1 John 2:10
He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
This verse {to me} proves those people wrong who say Christian brothers and sisters should stay away from each other. We should love as bretheren until God tells us different. If we do not love our Christian brothers and sisters in that way, we may be tempted to love as we should not thus disobeying Gods command to “Keep thy heart with all diligence” Proverbs 4:23.
